Sorry, I've been involved.

Hey there. Here's an update on why I don't write as much anymore.

---I'm now on an Long-Form Improv team called Grandma Mojo's Moonshine Revival. We have shows every other Wednesday at Iowa State University. 10pm for $1.00. Come laugh at me being a douche bag.

---I'm the performing arts director for the Iowa State University Student Union Board. I get to do fun things revolving around music, film, pop culture, and everything in between.

---I start my internship with Microsoft tomorrow. Free stuff 2010.

---I'm currently producing, writing, directing, and acting in a TV show that me and a bunch of friends started called BUNCHA BUDDIES. We'll have a website up soon.

---I spend a lot of time staring at the paint falling apart on my wall.

---Here's a picture of me opening up for the Sklar Brothers, doing stand-up. They told me to move LA and pursue a career in the entertainment business. Goodbye Iowa.

Here's the Sklars, they're famous.

Here's me doin mah thing.

Here's the promo for the improv group I'm in.

Sorry

It's been awhile since I've wrote in here. I'm just so busy with work and other shit I need to get done, which I neglect to get done.

I got my wisdom teeth out yesterday.

I had a college visit at Columbia, in which I MIGHT transfer.

Other than that, I went to Minneapolis and Chicago. I don't know what else I've done. I'll be back in full force one of these days. Maybe then I'll be out of this state of mind. Where do all the hours go? Where did my money go? Where am I trying to go?

There's just too much

There's a lot of information out there. My brain can't process all of it. I really can't organize all the thoughts going through my head, and I don't know how to priortize my list so I can study one thing at a time. I just want to know it all.

Funny how I have this problem when I'm not in college. I should have went to film school. The last few nights, I've stayed awake until 8 A.M. reading spec scripts and screenwriting books. On top of that, I've been researching innovative film angles and reading on how to edit different camera shots.

I also have to fit in my daily blog reads/ movie news/ music news/ and stand-up shiz.

I'm falling behind in my booking for SUB things and different errands I keep forgetting about.

Blah. Summer isn't long enough.

Tomorrow we start test shooting for one of the short film scripts I wrote. We'll see how this goes,
Andrew

MET

I've met some pretty famous people in my life.

It's weird because there are only ONE OF EACH OF THEM IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

I just met Jonah Hill from Superbad
and Russell Brand from Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

I should have done more. Missed opportunity. We'll see what happens.

I want to make it,
Andrew

P.s. I also met Lights once. I want to hold her hand. Can you believe I fucking MET HER? I want to make it so bad.

I've Been Getting Sick

Iron Man 2. Meh. ***1/2

Everybody's Fine *** <--- This movie almost made cry. Then I realized it was probably just my contact. I ate 12 gallons of Slim Jim to make up for the stupidity of what I was doing.

Sherlock Holmes ****

It's weird being home. I always told myself that growing old is mandatory and growing up is optional. I don't know when I gave in to the sickness, but I've been coughing lately. Through and through I convice myself that I know exactly how things will pan out. Looks like I didn't count on sneezing out all these surprises. I don't like sneezing.

Home is where you make it. Thanks for the comfort Pella, looks like I am ready to grow old. But not with you.

It's you... not me,
Andrew

P.S
I posted about this movie a year ago. When I saw Iron Man in XD, they showed the thrid trailer for this. The XD theater made this more epic than I expected. OMG, IM SO EXCCCCCCCCCCIIIIIIIIITED! EEEEEEEEEEEK!

ANDREA

I've got one week until summer.
TIME TIME TIME TIME TIME FLIEZ.
I went to a lot of films last week. I decided to rate them because blogs need substance...
I'll go with the star rating out of five...

"Get Him to the Greek" **** 1/2
"Cop Out" **
"Kick Ass" **** 1/2
"MacGruber" *** and 1/2 of Hot Rod's star review.

I'm sitting at ISU's library's third floor window. It's looking out into campus. I can see my reflection in the window and everyone behind me. I wonder if anyone can see me making sure my hair looks fantastic. Probably. Yup. There's verification. Some redhaired girl locked eyes with me through my reflection. Hmmm.... is she really looking at me then? Or is she looking at my evil reflection twin Andrea? I DONT KNOW, it makes me paranoid. Every time I look at the window, Andrea stares at me. I wish my evil reflection twin would stop this. I wonder if it knows I'm typing about him.

Wait.... WHAT'S IT DOING?! NOOOOOOOO! I'LL NEVER LET YOU TAKE MY KEYBOARD AWAY ANDREA. I'LL NEVER STOP TYPING ABOUT YOU. HOW DID YOU GET OUT OF YOUR REFLECTION JAIL?! NOOOO! LET ME FINISH THIS SENT

finals are making me crazy,
Andrew

Not doing what I need to do.

I'm watching the film "Peacock" right now. I should be typing a paper.

I got a callback for Peacock two years ago, this time, after I auditioned out of the blue. I was trying out for a character named Kenny who sells baseball cards to Cillian Murphy's character.

I got to meet the producers and directors and had a pretty rad conversation with them about films and how they got started. I think they liked me. I didn't end up getting the part but it was pretty cool, as that was my first audition/callback ever.

Cillian Murphy is fantastic. Everyone go see his films: Batman Begins, Sunshine, Breakfast on Pluto, etc. It would have been a dream come true to work with him.

Ellen Page and some other famous people were in it. Here's the trailer...

The film's cast is incredible. The script has potential. It's pretty hit or miss.

More later,
Andrew

P.S. I saw Set Your Goals, Comeback Kid, and The Wonder Years tonight. Life is amazing. Stay Posi.

epic flashback post

Hey guys.
Thanks for sticking around for all this time. I've had this for over a year now.

You know that feeling you get of reestablishment after a well-deserved break? I've got that fever right now. Here's a few updates of what's been going on since I've posted on here...

Getting involved, not doing as well as I should in classes, still not officially dating my future wife (Lights), getting new music, playing shows with my band, performing stand-up, getting scared about my wisdom teeth, not getting over things I should be over, booked a trip to Vegas, wondering how long I'll be stuck in Ames, got an E-Mail from Warner Brothers, making too many friends, good weather, saw Copeland for the last time and met Kenny from the Starting Line and Ace Enders from The Early November. ETC.

Life is brilliant. Even if it sucks, tell yourself that it's great. Please trust me.

Here's something I wrote January of 2008 called "It starts with my toes and I crinkle my nose". I wrote it for my high school newspaper opinion column. I used to be good. This article is more true now than it was back when I was a senior in high school.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am cold. It seems like every winter storm is becoming more gnarly after the next. I'm going to make the assumption that by the time February rolls around, ice will be developing on the toilet water. Chances are the next glazed-filled doughnut I buy will look more like a Klondike bar. Crazy galaxy.

Does anyone remember when we made gingerbread houses in second grade? Ido. I had the chance to accompany Miss Taylor Vander Well (UPDATE: this is weird. I wrote "miss Taylor Vander Well in Jan. 2008. As of October 2009 she's been known as MRS. TAYLOR BOEYINK! I love life) to Madison Elementary to take photographs of the children's freshly made gingerbread houses. Now that was a treat...pun intended. These houses were brilliantly covered in white frosting with cracked gingerbread ceilings and stringy twizzler windows and doors. Sheer brilliance. It was amazing to see these little kids' faces light up at the sight of small, edible houses. Behind those dull shirts and baggy snow pants were 100 possible Picasso's in the making. At that realization, I had an epiphany.

Education has become a system that controls teenager's minds to create a robotic empire. Our educational "systems" have devised a plan to trap us into a routine comprised of ringing bells, four hours of homework, a persuasive push into extra-curriculars and an environment where right answer are the only thing expected to be heard out of our mouths. this is the perfect environment for stress to boil up. Why can't we all just go back to the loveable days of elementary school? You know, the days where we WANTED to go to school, the place where you have parties for being there 100 days, or when counting quarters got too hard, you could just take a little nap. Let's face the facts; we develop more in those time periods than we do in this system. Maybe that has to do with the procedures that come with the education we receive at that certain age.

I'm probably wrong, but I think that our lives would be a lot more peaceful without the competition of fighting for a better ACT score. I would rather develop the artistic skills of inventing a gingerbread house that awes my teacher. If I found out that my math teacher had put that into my lesson plan for next Friday, I would make sure I wouldn't miss school at all cost. I'm just saying.

By the way, in honor of the icy winter, I think I'm going to build an igloo and throw a party. I'll probably be the only one who attends. Sad.

Band of Outsiders: part 2

If you're a dedicated follower of this blog, you might have seen this fashion brand on a different post.

Case and point: http://ablopez.blogspot.com/2009/08/band-of-outsiders-2009-fallwinter.html

Anyway, I was just shown their new fashion look-book and twitter by my idol Aziz Ansari. Fitting for me right? Aziz Ansari and I should really collaborate on how we can make so much awesome in this world, that everyone's heads explode.

Check out their new line. It's definitely my favorite fashion brand out there right now.

The Road to Recovery

I know I've had a lot of mushy posts lately, so basically no one gives a shit lately.

But I had to say this one: heartbreak is easy to learn from if you let yourself.

Sincerely,
Andrew

p.s. Bro-bait was just used to describe a group of girls. I laughed then looked at myself and thought "wow, no one 'baits' themselves for people like me."

Then I laughed at myself and went home.

Monday, January 25, 2010

I once heard that people only say and do things they think they ought to say and do.

There is one phenomenon that can't be understood or mastered.
In life, there is a moment of randomness that strikes a chord that cannot be repeated or recreated because in a split second, an entire continuity of prior events can shift into completely new directions or experiences. This moment of our lives is simply out of our hands.

This phenomenon is the human connection. Connection is an underwhelming feeling that grows on every aspect of our lives.

We long for passion to be the foundation of our life steps, goals, and aspirations, but the only way that true connection can be brought to the surface of our under appreciated lives is if we use real passion to connect our endeavors.

The human connection, whether it be with a job, a goal, a lover, or a god, will not happen through anticipation. This connection is remarkable in the fact that, with all the paths that are possible in life, with all the people that walk these paths, and all the possibilities that draw these maps; there is an event when two paths cross, and for a brief moment, you're not on your path alone.

I'm waiting for that moment. I'm waiting for that connection with something, anything.

Sincerely,
Andrew

This is the contradiction that potrays America's media based stupidity. I have nothing more to say except this:

The Dallas Cowboys or San Deigo Chargers will win the superbowl and I wish there was a magazine called "Cosmeno" and it had advice about how to crack into the heads of every woman in the world. Or Supervillian. Same thing.

I don't know what the hell I'm talking about,

THE WONDER YEARS

Mah band, mah band.

My pop punk band just finished up crushing the Vaudeville Mews last night opening up for Sons & Heirs and Bamboo Shoots.

Sons & Heirs played their brand new set and my ears exploded directly after they finished playing. Shortly after, I went the hospital.
Prognosis: my ears received sound waves that were too epic for it to compute. True story.

Their new music is too good.

Bamboo Shoots are on Epic Records and have toured with the likes of 3oh3! and All Time Low. Here's a picture of them jumping...

They ruled! Really nice dudes and sexy music. We even had a dance off in the middle of their set. Of course, it only consisted of 2 dudes awkwardly trying to get involved and 1 dude shamelessly doing the worm. Typical.

Here's a picture of me interviewing them...

It is what it is my friends,

Week Off

Sorry guys, that week off really killed the vibe again. I need to find an efficient way of staying on top of the blogging game. I'll work on it, I promise you all.

Us Iowa State University students are now on Thanksgiving break. We all needed it, and it feels amazing to be home. This is where my family and best friends are. That will always make this town the most important place of my life. Earlier this week, I was reading my old posts from last year (it was crazy to think those were posted an entire YEAR ago, time is crazy), and saw how much my outlook on life has changed.

People always talk about how they haven't changed, how they can't see the difference in their life, or how "doomed" they are being stuck in their rusty unchangeable life. I used to lump myself in that dreadful list.

Reading my old entries made me realize that I have changed.

Time is a crazy thing. When we're stuck in a minute, it lasts too long. When it passes we wonder where it went. Waiting takes too long. Living doesn't last long enough.

CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA- TO BUILD A HOME

This blog wasn't as good as it should be so read my older stuff,

I was so busy they call me busy. BOOKING POS, KIDZ IN THE HALL, SLEEPING AT LAST?

Hey all,

Sorry for all the delays, I know all the hundreds of you that flock here have almost decided to leave. But you didn't. So cool. If you did, screw off! LITERALLY.

Anyone else think the joke phrase of "literally" has stayed passed it's welcome? I mean most times, if the wannabe comedian decides to add literally to a phrase, it's usually literal in a non literal way (if you know what I mean, making it not really literal. Not that funny. IT'S NOT FUNNY IF IT'S NOT TRUE.

Or is it?

But if it were literal, then why didn't you mean it like that in the first place? WHY ARE YOU WASTING SYLLABLES IN THIS ECONOMY? YOU KNOW YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO GET MORE! Literally.

2 friends and I have joined the Student Union Board here at Iowa State. Through that, we can book bands, comedians, and other forms of entertainment for the campus. If you'd like a show or something, shoot me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do. I'll post more on that later.

Here are the some artists Bryan, Kory, and I are going to try to book.

P.O.S.
